However, another choice is known as the CDL, which is a blue steel walnut stock that is offered for both standard and magnum calibers.
Another fact about options for whitetail rifle hunting is that many hunters do not want an extremely light rifle. For instance, the Seven standard rifle by Remington is just 6.25 pounds whereas the CDL magnum version weighs 7.38 pounds. By adding a midrange variable scope on top of the hunting rifle, the level of confidence for having a successful hunt increases.
Of course, you want to remember that if you were whitetail rifle hunting where a shot going across a valley to a slope on the opposite side was required, then the rifle should have greater cartridge so a bolt-action 7mm magnum with a 24-inch barrel would be an excellent choice. Just remember the scope is also a critical component of the rifle so in this case, a fixed scope with 6x power would be ideal.

To be successful with whitetail rifle hunting, a custom rifle does not have to be designed with all the bells and whistles but choosing to have a contoured barrel and customized specs for the chamber can make a tremendous difference.
In fact, to save money but still end up with an exceptional choice of rifle that is designed specifically for you, you could have someone provide a semi-custom project. With this, the rifle would have some stock components and some custom components. Therefore, you have the opportunity to choose from a variety of actions such as those made from stainless or chromemoly and if wanted, you could have the barrel created to match but choosing whether the texture is smooth or fluted.
